The RIMAC BETAMATIK is a specialised collector mica milling machine for the manufacture and repair of electric armatures and commutators. It is used for the precise milling or undercutting of the mica insulation between the individual copper lamellae of a collector.

The mica joints are detected by a laser optical system. A stepper motor then automatically positions the armature from lamella to lamella. The milling cutter is automatically raised during the return stroke. According to the data sheet, the machining time is approximately 0.8 to 1.3 seconds per lamella.

The machine can process armatures up to a diameter of 100 mm, collectors up to 70 mm in diameter and shafts up to 500 mm in length. The maximum milling length is 60 mm. The milling spindle reaches 8,000 rpm.

The machine, originally purchased around 1983/1984, was extensively modernised and mechanically overhauled in 2005. Among other things, a new control cabinet with a Siemens S7 PLC, a touchscreen control panel, laser optics, new sensors, a reinforced spindle with belt drive, new solenoid valves, new cabling and a protective enclosure with safety monitoring were installed.

An interesting specialised machine for electric motor manufacturers, armature winding workshops, commutator manufacturers and repair workshops.
